Islamabad: A meeting of the Pakistan-Turkiye Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad has adopted a protocol to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields. Addressing the meeting, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan stated that this protocol serves as a roadmap reflecting the collective desire to transform historic bonds into meaningful economic outcomes.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Jam Kamal emphasized that although Pakistan and Turkiye are natural trade and investment partners, the current bilateral trade volume does not reflect the true potential of their economies. Both sides have placed special emphasis on accelerating the implementation of the Pakistan-Turkiye Trade in Goods Agreement.
Jam Kamal highlighted that Pakistan, through the Special Investment Facilitation Council, is prepared to provide Turkish investors with support in Special Economic Zones and priority sectors. He expressed confidence that together, the two countries can unlock new avenues of trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.
The Minister also pointed out the potential for cooperation in the energy and oil and gas sectors. He noted that defense cooperation has been a longstanding feature of the Pakistan-Turkiye relationship, and there is significant room for joint initiatives in co-production, technology transfer, and capacity building.
Furthermore, Jam Kamal mentioned that joint initiatives in value addition, food processing, livestock management, and fisheries will not only enhance trade but also ensure affordable food supplies for citizens. Both countries have also agreed to strengthen cooperation in labor mobility, media, culture, and tourism.
