Pakistani Troops Thwart Infiltration Attempt at Afghan Border; Three Soldiers Martyred

Bajaur: Pakistani security forces engaged and neutralized a group of militants attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur District on the night of August 18-19, 2024. The encounter resulted in the death of five militants and injuries to four others, while Pakistan mourns the loss of three soldiers who were killed in the firefight.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the militants, identified as members of the Khwarij group, were intercepted during their infiltration attempt, leading to an intense exchange of fire. The deceased soldiers were identified as Naik Inayat Khan from District Khyber, Lance Naik Umer Hayat from District Mansehra, and Sepoy Waqar Khan from District Peshawar, all of whom fought valiantly.

The incident has underscored ongoing security challenges along the border and has prompted renewed calls for the Interim Afghan Government to enhance border management to prevent such infiltrations. The Pakistani military remains committed to securing the nation’s borders and has reiterated that the sacrifices of its soldiers reinforce their resolve to combat terrorism.
