Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif Vows to Implement Structural Reforms and Strengthen Economy

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s dedication to enacting structural reforms aimed at stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and securing the country’s standing among global nations. His commitment was voiced during his address at the Meeting for Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif outlined the challenges faced by Pakistan, including a struggling power sector and a faltering revenue system. He detailed the government’s response, which includes implementing significant structural reforms across various sectors to steer the economy toward stability.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the substantial support from international partners such as Saudi Arabia, Britain, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States, which have played a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s economic initiatives.

In addition to economic issues, PM Sharif highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on Pakistan. Despite contributing minimally to global emissions, Pakistan ranks among the countries most vulnerable to climate-related disasters. He cited the severe economic losses, totaling thirty billion dollars, resulting from the catastrophic floods in 2022.

He extended gratitude towards nations like Saudi Arabia, Britain, Gulf countries, and the USA for their assistance during these hardships. Furthermore, addressing the ongoing crisis in Palestine, PM Sharif emphasized that global peace remains elusive without a lasting resolution in Gaza, underlining the broader geopolitical challenges impacting regional stability.
