Jammu, July 22, 2023 (PPI-OT):The daily wagers of Power Development Department held a strong protest demonstration in Rajouri town of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in favour of their demands. The PDD daily wagers are demanding release of their pending salary and resolution of pending demands which they had projected before the authorities several times. The workers assembled near District Police Lines in Rajouri town and staged a sit-in protest. The protesters told the media that they are performing duty without any salary and department is not paying any attention towards them as they are doing all the works in the department assigned to them by putting their life at risk. They added that a number of daily wagers have lost their lives while performing their job and department has no policy for them.
The protesters said they are doing work on a meager salary which is not paid to them timely, due to which their families suffer badly. They maintained that the authorities must come out with a clear policy regarding their regularisation. They warned that if their demands are not fulfilled within two days, they will go for indefinite strike.
