Peaceful Conduct of General Election

Karachi, July 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazal-ur-Rehman presiding over a high-level meeting appreciated the efforts of all the concerned institutions for conducting peaceful security arrangements. The meeting was attended by all the cabinet members, Chief Secretary, DG Rangers, IGP Sindh, Principal Secretary to CM, additional IG Karachi, all the concerned provincial secretaries, all divisional commissioners and DIGs and provincial heads of intelligence agencies.

The chief minister said that conducting of general election 2018 was a gigantic task but thanks to his cabinet members and his team including Chief Secretary, Rangers, Police, intelligence agencies, Senior Member Board of Revenue and their teams worked day and night and made it possible. He thanked all the cabinet members and concerned officers for achieving the task. “I am proud to say that the election was conducted in a peaceful manner,” he said.

Chief Secretary Major (retd) Azam Suleman said that the transportation of over 70,000 polling staff and meeting their requirements such as furniture, technical support and other facilities was a big challenge. “Had we not worked as a team it would have not been possible,” he said and lauded the leadership of the caretaker chief minister who as a former experienced and seasoned bureaucrat understood each and every issue and extended his full support to the government machinery to make the arrangements and “we did it within a month which is a record,” he said.

DG Rangers Major General Mohammad Saeed said that he was in close coordination with the establishment of Chief Secretary, IG and intelligence agencies to make arrangements. “Thanks to God everything went well and today its credit goes to every one sitting here and their teams,” he said and lauded the support of his team [Rangers].

The IG Police, Amjad Javed Saleemi also talked about the coordinated efforts of every one and also lauded intelligence agencies support. “I am thankful to my force and the intelligence agencies who kept us well informed about the potential threats well in time,” he said. The cabinet members also thanked the chief minister for his leading role and guidance. The chief minister said that as a caretaker chief executive of the province he and his team played neutral role.
