Islamabad: Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, has announced ongoing efforts to establish a mountaineering school in Skardu, aimed at enhancing environmentally friendly mountaineering and sustainable tourism practices in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Alam chaired the second review meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee to Establish a Mountaineering School in Gilgit-Baltistan, outlining the educational and training objectives of the initiative. The school plans to offer courses in mountaineering, Sherpa training, and sustainable tourism, focusing on respecting the local environment and cultural values.
The establishment of this facility is intended to provide aspiring mountaineers and mountain climbers with the skills necessary to safely enjoy and preserve the unique landscapes and heritage of the region.
