Islamabad, In a decisive move to curb power theft across the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued orders for stringent action against those involved in electricity theft, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach. This directive was given during a meeting with Interior Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, in Islamabad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the efforts led by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) aimed at reducing power theft. Discussions also extended to the ongoing restructuring and proposed reforms within the FIA and the National Counter Terrorism Authority.
The meeting further delved into various issues concerning the country’s political and security landscape, the workings of the Ministry of Interior, Anti-Narcotics measures, and the governance of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Prime Minister Sharif’s directive underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and integrity of the country’s power sector by eliminating theft and ensuring reliable electricity supply to consumers. This effort is part of a broader initiative to address energy challenges and strengthen the nation’s infrastructure.
