Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the Election Amendment Bill 2024, which introduces significant changes to the Election Act 2017, particularly regarding the appointment of judges to the Election Tribunal.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new amendment mandates consultation with the Chief Justice of the relevant High Court before appointing a serving judge to the Election Tribunal, enhancing the judiciary’s role in the electoral process.
