President Zardari Advocates for Growth in Pakistan’s Gems and Jewellery Sector

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of developing Pakistan’s Gems and Jewellery sector to enhance foreign exchange earnings through exporting value-added products. His call to action included improving marketing efforts for Pakistan’s gemstones on a global scale, highlighting the sector’s potential for contributing significantly to the national economy.

According to Press Information Department, during a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr with the CEO of Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC), Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, and other senior officials, the strategic plan for the sector’s growth was discussed. Challenges and opportunities were identified, with a strong focus on tapping into the international market.

President Zardari stressed the sector’s untapped potential and the need for foreign investment, which would not only bolster the economy but also create job opportunities. He underlined the significance of training and enhancing the skills of the local workforce, alongside promoting sector diversification and industrialization, to improve its economic contribution.
