President Zardari Advocates for Stronger Trade and Investment Links with the USA

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the importance of bolstering trade and investment relationships with the United States, seeking to attract American businesses to the Pakistan Stock Exchange and to foster innovative collaborations across various sectors. These statements were made during a meeting with the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Donald Blome, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

According to Press Information Department, President Zardari articulated a vision for deepening the multifaceted ties between Pakistan and the USA, a relationship that spans over seventy years. The President expressed a commitment to addressing Pakistan’s economic and security challenges, prioritizing economic stability. He also touched upon the critical issue of climate change, recognizing Pakistan’s vulnerability and expressing a desire to advance agricultural efficiency through modern irrigation practices.

Ambassador Blome responded by outlining potential areas for enhanced US-Pakistani cooperation, including trade and investment, climate change adaptation, renewable energy, agricultural development, and security. He highlighted the successful completion of the Sindh Basic Education Program by the USA, aimed at creating climate-resilient educational infrastructure in Pakistan. Furthermore, Ambassador Blome extended his congratulations to President Zardari on his reappointment.
