Prime Minister of Pakistan Calls for Global Solidarity on World Environment Day

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister’s statement outlined the serious challenges posed by land degradation, desertification, and drought, which threaten significant portions of the world’s population and GDP. He discussed Pakistan’s active role in global climate efforts, including the establishment of a Loss and Damage Fund at COP27, and detailed national initiatives like the Green Pakistan Programme and Living Indus Initiative aimed at reforestation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable agriculture. The Prime Minister also mentioned ongoing projects such as Recharge Pakistan and the Sustainable Land Management Program (SLMP) that demonstrate Pakistan’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices and tackling environmental challenges. He called on citizens to join the global movement for restoration and resilience, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to secure a sustainable future.
