Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed his government’s commitment to prioritizing the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a specific focus on the region’s newly merged districts, during discussions with members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister articulated a vision for elevating the economic and social infrastructure in these districts, recognizing the strategic importance of integrating these areas into the broader developmental framework of Pakistan. He outlined several key initiatives, including the establishment of Danish Schools to provide quality education and the shifting of agricultural tube wells to solar energy to foster agricultural development and reduce reliance on imported fuel.
During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar among other dignitaries, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the progress made towards improving Pakistan’s economy, emphasizing the government’s effort to combat electricity theft and its recent measures to provide relief on electricity bills to the middle class and poor.
The delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shared the specific challenges faced in their constituencies, expressing support for the Prime Minister’s strategies, particularly in the areas of health, education, and power sector reforms.
In response, Prime Minister Sharif established a committee, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, tasked with finding lasting solutions to the issues raised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa representatives, underscoring his administration’s proactive approach to addressing regional disparities and fostering equitable development across Pakistan.
