Prime Minister Sharif Strengthens Ties with China During Visit to Shenzhen

Shenzhen, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan met with Shenzhen’s Party Secretary, Mr. Meng Fanli, today to discuss and reinforce the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. The meeting, which took place in Shenzhen, highlighted the mutual commitment to deepening economic and technological cooperation, especially within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to Press Information Department, the discussions between Prime Minister Sharif and Mr. Meng Fanli, who also serves as the Deputy Party Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee, focused on the rich, multi-dimensional relationship between the two nations. Prime Minister Sharif expressed admiration for Guangdong’s economic achievements and innovation and recognized Shenzhen’s critical role as a trade hub linking Chinese and Pakistani businesses.

The leaders agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation, particularly through CPEC, and discussed opportunities to further engage in sectors such as science and technology, innovation, and economic development. They also emphasized the significance of people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and educational partnerships in strengthening bilateral relations.

The meeting set the stage for the upcoming Pakistan-China Business Conference, which both leaders agreed could play a pivotal role in boosting the strategic cooperative partnership. The conference aims to foster direct connections between scientists, innovators, and business leaders from both countries, enhancing collaborative efforts in key areas of mutual interest.
