Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Directs Swift Upgrade of Pakistan’s Power Transmission System

Islamabad, In an assertive move to enhance the nation’s electricity infrastructure, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated the creation of a priority plan for the comprehensive upgrade of the power transmission system and distribution companies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting focused on the power sector held in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister instructed relevant authorities to present a detailed plan for system improvements within one week. He emphasized the urgent need to expedite the privatization and outsourcing of distribution companies to increase efficiency and reduce losses.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the critical role of these reforms in tackling the persistent issue of circular debt and asserted a strong stance against power theft, committing to stringent actions against those compromising the national economy. He also demanded that key projects related to the power transmission system be completed on schedule to ensure reliability and sustainability of power supply across the country.
