Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Launches National Campaign to Eradicate Hepatitis C

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared a new nationwide campaign to eradicate Hepatitis C in Pakistan, coinciding with World Hepatitis Day.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the health challenges posed by Hepatitis C. The campaign focuses on decentralizing testing and treatment centers to meet the specific needs of citizens, aligning with the global strategy against the disease. Prime Minister Sharif assured that every Pakistani would have free access to Hepatitis C screening and treatment facilities.

Reflecting on his previous tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, Sharif highlighted his successful initiatives, including the establishment of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and Hepatitis Filter Clinics across all 36 districts of Punjab. These past achievements underscore his confidence in the new campaign’s potential success.

On World Hepatitis Day, the Prime Minister called for unity in raising awareness and supporting those affected by viral hepatitis, aiming to secure a future free from the disease’s burden. He expressed optimism that these efforts would lead to a healthier and more prosperous Pakistan.
