Lahore, In a significant meeting today, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Japanese Ambassador Wada Matsuhiro deliberated on enhancing trade, business, and investment ties between Punjab and Japan. The discussions also touched on cultural and educational exchanges, aiming to deepen bilateral relationships and explore new avenues for cooperation.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting covered several key areas of mutual interest. Chief Minister Sharif emphasized the potential for Japanese investments in Punjab, highlighting the province’s emerging status as a major consumer market and the availability of skilled young manpower capable of contributing to Japanese institutions. “Public relations between the two countries are indispensable for the development of bilateral relations,” she stated, underlining the importance of continued interactions.
Ambassador Matsuhiro expressed Japan’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, noting ongoing Japanese projects aimed at public social welfare in the country. He revealed that eleven Pakistani students are currently studying in Japan under MEXT scholarships for Masters and PhD degrees, reflecting the educational ties that complement the economic interactions. The Ambassador also affirmed Japan’s determination to collaborate with the Punjab government in technology development, further strengthening the strategic partnership.
