Punjab Health Minister Chairs Meeting to Enhance Human Organ Transplantation Services

The 29th meeting of the monitoring authority of the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (HOTA) took place at its head office, led by Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting focused on improving the operations and oversight of organ transplantation services in the region. Attendees included key medical and administrative professionals such as Dr. Hafiz Shahid Latif, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Anwar, and Dr. Mohammad Saqib Aziz. The gathering underscored the importance of transparency in procurement and other legal affairs within HOTA. Minister Rafiq announced plans for automating the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority to enhance efficiency. He highlighted the activation of various committees to maintain integrity in procurement processes and other legal matters. Furthermore, the meeting approved the adoption of Staff Recruitment and Contract Policy 2004 and discussed the setup of specialized committees
in Legal, Finance, HR, and Procurement sectors. In his concluding remarks, Minister Rafiq stressed the importance of stringent legislation to combat illegal human organ transplantation. He directed HOTA to intensify efforts against those involved in unlawful practices, ensuring the protection and ethical treatment of all patients within the province’s healthcare system.
