Lahore, Punjab Home Secretary Noor Ul Amin Mengal dedicated his Eid-ul-Adha to visiting Lahore and Faisalabad jails, where he spent time with prisoners, focusing on the children and assessing the province’s security arrangements. Mengal also reviewed the conditions within the jails, directed improvements in prisoner facilities, and discussed ongoing reforms intended to better integrate prisoners back into society.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Mengal began his day with Eid prayers at the Badshahi Mosque before heading to the DC office control room to oversee the city’s security and cleanliness operations. He then proceeded to Camp Jail Lahore, where he joined the children for a meal and emphasized the importance of their education and training. Mengal’s visit also included interactions with prisoners and their families, during which he promised to enhance visiting areas and resolve their grievances. Additional measures noted during his visits included the installation of air conditioners in visiting areas and the introduction of paid internships for psychology and law students within the jails.
Mengal’s efforts over the holiday were part of a broader initiative to ensure safety and improve conditions across Punjab during Eid. He commended the police and administration for their diligence in maintaining security, cleanliness, and public convenience during the festive period.
