Lahore, The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has escalated its efforts against organized crime, resulting in the arrest of over 16,000 individuals involved in various criminal activities across the province last month. This operation targeted a wide array of offenders including proclaimed offenders and members of criminal gangs.
According to Punjab Police, the extensive crackdown led to the apprehension of 7,500 wanted criminals implicated in severe offenses such as robbery and murder. Additionally, the operation successfully detained 5,165 judicial fugitives and over 3,000 habitual target offenders. During these arrests, police also dismantled 355 criminal gangs, capturing 893 of their members, and recovered stolen goods valued at more than 29 crore rupees, which were subsequently returned to their rightful owners.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has issued directives for the police to intensify their investigations and make further use of modern technology to enhance their efficiency. He also emphasized the need for senior police officers, including RPOs and DPOs, to personally oversee these targeted operations to ensure maximum impact.
