Lahore: Punjab Information and Culture Minister, Azma Bukhari, announced that the Drama Act will be formulated with input from the theater industry. During a meeting in Lahore with senior stage artists Nasim Vickey and Qaisar Sanaullah, she emphasized the government’s commitment to incorporating two proposals from the Theater Association into the new Drama Act.
According to Radio Pakistan, Bukhari highlighted that the establishment of theaters in residential streets will be prohibited, and the scheduled timings for theater performances will be revised. She acknowledged the ongoing improvements in the quality of stage dramas but noted that further enhancements are necessary. Her vision includes creating an environment in theaters that encourages family attendance without hesitation.
Bukhari also urged the theater industry to focus on social and positive themes in their productions. She stressed that attracting educated youth into the industry is key to transforming the theater atmosphere and ensuring its progress.
