Quetta, A city-wide operation led by Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Lieutenant (R) Saad bin Asad, has resulted in the enforcement of price regulations among tandoor (traditional oven) owners. The crackdown aimed to ensure compliance with the official price list as set by the district administration.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during the operations, various teams visited a total of 185 tandoors across different areas of Quetta. The prices and weights of items sold at these tandoors were scrutinized, leading to the sealing of 30 tandoors and the arrest of 55 owners for non-compliance. Additionally, 35 tandoor owners were fined, and 22 received strict warnings.
The operations also included anti-encroachment efforts led by Assistant Commissioner (President) Captain (Rtd) Hamza Anjum and several special magistrates. These efforts not only focused on tandoors but extended to shops violating the price list, with 4 shops sealed and 15 shopkeepers arrested. The anti-encroachment activities targeted illegal extensions and use of public spaces, contributing to the broader goal of maintaining order and regulatory compliance in the city’s commercial operations.
The enforcement campaign reflects the administration’s commitment to fair trade practices and consumer rights, ensuring that the residents of Quetta receive goods at government-approved prices.
