Quetta University Hosts Environmental Awareness Program to Combat Global Warming

Quetta: Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, in collaboration with the Department of Forests and Wildlife and Engineer Qadir Dad Loni Welfare Trust, held an environmental awareness event to discuss the critical impacts of global warming on Pakistan. The program emphasized the urgent need for increased tree planting and greater public awareness of environmental protection.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the event featured speeches from Niaz Khan Kakar, Project Director of the Upscaling Green Pakistan Program, and Engineer Qadir Dad Loni, among other notable participants. They highlighted the detrimental effects of plastic usage, organic pollutants, and hormone-altering chemicals in water systems on both the environment and human health. The deteriorating fertility of the land was also addressed, noting the rapid transformation of arable land into barren landscapes.

The gathering also included the distribution of certificates and shields to participants, tours of the university’s departments, and a symbolic tree planting within the university premises, reinforcing the message of proactive environmental stewardship among students.
