Restrictions imposed in Ramban ahead of Lok Sabha elections

Srinagar, Authorities in Ramban district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have implemented curfew-like restrictions in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The measures, enforced by the district’s magistrate, are aimed at maintaining order during the election process scheduled for April 19.

According to Kashmir Media Service, District Magistrate Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary ordered the imposition of restrictions under section 144 on the eve of the election for the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency. The order specifically prohibits the assembly of five or more people throughout the district, excluding designated polling stations during voting hours.

Additionally, the restrictions include a ban on the entry of outsider political functionaries into the district and the use of loudspeakers, effective immediately. These measures are part of efforts to ensure that the electoral process is conducted smoothly and without disturbances.
