Rawalpindi, In a significant step towards strengthening military relations, H.E Major General (Engineer) Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defense from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), met with General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, the high-level meeting focused on discussions regarding mutual interests and explored avenues for enhancing bilateral defense collaboration, including in the areas of defense production and military training. General Munir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting the capacity building of the Royal Saudi Land Forces.
The Saudi dignitary expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s role in combating terrorism and its contributions to regional peace and stability. This meeting underscores the deep military cooperation that exists between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, which extends beyond simple exchanges to substantive collaborative efforts in training and defense manufacturing.
Additionally, Major General Al-Otaibi co-chaired the 5th Meeting of Pakistan-KSA Defense Collaboration at GHQ, which addressed the evolving challenges to global and regional security and their implications for defense forces. The forum acknowledged the critical need for cooperation in defense industrial sectors, particularly in adapting to rapid advancements in modern technologies.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts in defense collaboration, with a focused approach on enhancing specific capabilities across land, air, and sea domains. Concrete proposals were discussed to achieve tangible objectives within specified timelines, marking a forward leap in defense relations between the two nations.
