Rawalpindi, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have pledged to enhance their defense collaboration, focusing on capacity building, defense production, and military training. This commitment was underscored during discussions between Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Major General (Engineer) Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the two officials reviewed various aspects of mutual interest and explored ways to further augment the bilateral defense ties. The Saudi Assistant Minister of Defence commended the Pakistan Army’s role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its contributions toward regional peace and stability. Additionally, Major General Al-Otaibi participated in the 5th Meeting of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Defence Collaboration, which he co-chaired with the Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army.
The forum discussed the challenges posed to global and regional security and the impact of rapid technological advancements on defense forces. The need for defense industrial cooperation, particularly in critical capabilities, was emphasized as essential for both nations. Concrete proposals were considered to achieve tangible objectives within specified timelines, focusing on enhancing capabilities in land, air, and sea domains.
