Dera Ghazi Khan: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a significant weather warning for severe flash floods anticipated from August 27th onwards in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts. The warning follows forecasts of extremely heavy rainfall in the South Punjab regions, including DG Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur divisions starting August 26th.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority announcement issued on 23 August 2024, the looming severe weather conditions are due to a low-pressure area moving westward from West Bengal, likely intensifying and causing widespread heavy to very heavy thunderstorm rain. This meteorological situation is set to escalate into a severe flash flood scenario along the Sulaiman and Kirthar ranges, significantly affecting water flow levels and potentially causing intense flooding in the mentioned districts.
