Sibi Prepares for Heat Wave with Comprehensive Mitigation Measures

Sibi, In anticipation of the approaching heat wave, a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Jahanzeb Sheikh was convened to discuss and implement strategies to safeguard residents against potential heat-related health risks. The meeting saw the collaboration of local government and health officials, alongside representatives from the Bright Star Development Society, to establish preventive measures and support systems for the community.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting’s attendees included Assistant Commissioner Jarullah Khan Kakar, Chairman Municipal Committee Sardar Mohammad Khan Khajak, and other key local figures. BK Coordinator Razak Baloch outlined the planned interventions, including the setup of five hydration stations across strategic locations such as Tali Adda and Bakra Mandi, where cold water and 1450 heat wave kits will be distributed to the public. Furthermore, two shelters will be constructed to provide relief from the sun, and awareness sessions on heat wave safety and heat strokes will be conducted.

Deputy Commissioner Sheikh emphasized the importance of distributing heatwave kits specifically to the most vulnerable and working-class members of the community. He also highlighted the need for public education on heatwave precautions and mentioned ongoing discussions with higher authorities to ensure adequate support and resources are available to cope with the heat. Efforts will also be made to reduce load shedding during the heatwave and to enhance local infrastructure with the addition of emergency transformers and a dedicated workshop for quick response and maintenance.
