SIFC to Boost Agriculture with Major Solarization Project

Islamabad: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is set to enhance Pakistan’s agriculture sector through significant solarization of tube wells, as part of a national initiative led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This groundbreaking project aims to transform irrigation practices across the country, starting with Balochistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the plan involves the solarization of 27,000 agricultural tube wells in Balochistan at an estimated cost of over $197 million. This initiative is designed to provide a sustainable energy supply for agriculture and reduce reliance on conventional electricity and petroleum products.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the transformative potential of this project during the announcement. He emphasized that the successful implementation in Balochistan will set a precedent for similar projects in other provinces. This nationwide strategy aims to mitigate the longstanding challenges faced by Pakistan’s irrigation systems through the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
