Islamabad: Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Disaster Risk Reduction Ms Margareta Wahlstrom who is on a two days (6 Oct to 8 Oct) visit to Pakistan to have firsthand knowledge about the magnitude of floods, called on the Chairman NDMA, Dr. Zafar Qadir, UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Timo Pakkala, and UNDP Resident Representative in Pakistan Mr. Toshi Tanaka were also present on this occasion.
Chairman Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir briefed the delegation about the magnitude of floods in Sindh and ongoing relief operation being conducted in the province aiming to provide timely relief to the flood hit people of Sindh.
Chairman informed that the rain victims are being provided all the required items including tents, food and medicine. He said that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is being equipped to expedite the relief operation. The Chairman NDMA pledged to provide every possible relief to the flood hit population.
