Syed Ali Gilani donates his property to a trust

Srinagar, January 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Ali Gilani, has donated his entire immovable property to an autonomous and independent Trust. The announcement to this effect was made by Syed Ali Gilani at a meeting of his party at his residence in Srinagar. The property includes the residence of the veteran leader at Hyderpora, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet head office building and Millat Publications. The Trust comprises eight persons who have been authorized to use this property only for the purpose of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet.

“It is unfortunate that our leadership was always exempted from accountability and nobody dared to identify their mistakes or ask about their way of functioning. However, I want my person and my party to stay transparent in our dealings with the society,” Syed Ali Gilani said in a statement issued after the meeting.

“Trust will utilize its assets for promotion of fundamentals and mission of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet. It is no more now a private or individual property. Nobody has any claims to anything in these properties,” he said.

“I pray to Allah for acceptance of my efforts and absolve me of shortcoming and weaknesses and give me strength to stand by the pledge till my last breath,” the veteran leader said. He said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyet was not a mere political organization but a religious organization too and had emerged as a symbol of resistance in the political scenario of occupied Kashmir.

Commenting on the negotiations between Pakistan and India, he said that these negotiations would not help until the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir were addressed in their real perspective.

He reiterated his appeal to the people to boycott the forthcoming farcical elections for the so-called Kashmir Assembly and Indian Parliament in the territory as India portrayed these elections as consent of people and alternative to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
