Karachi, June 19, 2023 (PPI-OT):The oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad was held on Monday evening at Gulshan-e- Jinnah (Polo Ground) in which Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Chauhan administered the oath of office to Mayor Karachi and Deputy Mayor Karachi. On this occasion, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, provincial ministers, members of national and provincial assemblies, UC chairmen, diplomats of various countries, consul general and dignitaries of the city were also present.
After the oath taking, Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman presented the symbolic key of the city to Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Speaking on this occasion, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we name this victory in local body election of Karachi after Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and all martyrs of People’s Party, the graveyards of Karachi are full of martyrs of Pakistan People’s Party. The city used to run on a phone call, but the Jayalas stood before them and sacrificed their blood for peace and democracy in the city. Pakistan People’s Party has always been here, they go to snatch the election from us, but we don’t steal the election, in the past, the People’s Party was prevented from becoming the mayor of Karachi through rigging and coercion.
However, after continuous struggle, PPP has ended the politics of hatred and extremism in the city. He said that from Karachi to Kashmore, the elected local representatives of the People’s Party will meet the expectations of the people, they will answer the false allegations of rigging with hard work and efficiency. Yes, after winning the election, there will be no difference in the constituencies of the PPP and other parties, the federal and provincial governments will cooperate to solve the problems of Karachi. Addressing the ceremony, the newly elected mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, said that he is grateful to the people of Karachi that they have chosen the Pakistan People’s Party to serve the city.
The leadership of the People’s Party and its workers gave us this opportunity to share love and connect the hearts of the people in Karachi. He said that each UC Chairman of People’s Party and all the elected officials pledge that we will serve the city without discrimination and end the politics of discrimination and hatred and implement the mission of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to serve the people without discrimination. Pakistan People’s Party will bring positive change in Karachi and the citizens of Karachi will help us in this.
