Three Standing Committees Meet at Parliament House, Approve Key Amendments

Islamabad, The Honourable Speaker, exercising the powers conferred by Rule 215 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007, has appointed three Standing Committees. Meetings of these Standing Committees were held today in the Constitution Room, Parliament House, Islamabad.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, chaired by Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA, met at 6:00 p.m. The Committee considered “The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2023” (Ord. No.II of 2023). After detailed deliberations, the Committee unanimously passed the Bill with amendments. The meeting was attended by Members of the National Assembly Syed Amin-ul-Haq, Mr. Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Mr. Noor Alam Khan, and Mr. Muhammad Awn Saqlain, along with officers from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs, chaired by Mr. Bilal Azhar Kiyani, MNA, convened at 6:15 p.m. The Committee considered “The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2023” (Ord. No.III of 2023). Following detailed discussions, the Committee unanimously passed the Bill with amendments. Attendees included Members of the National Assembly Syed Amin-ul-Haq, Syed Naveed Qamar, Mr. Noor Alam Khan, and Mr. Muhammad Awn Saqlain, along with officials from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Standing Committee on Communications, chaired by Syed Amin-ul-Haq, MNA, met at 6:30 p.m. The Committee reviewed “The Pakistan Postal Services Management Board (Amendment) Bill, 2023” (Ord. No.IV of 2023) and “The National Highway Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023” (Ord. No.V of 2023). After thorough deliberations, the Committee unanimously passed both Bills with amendments. The meeting was attended by Members of the National Assembly Syed Naveed Qamar, Mr. Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Mr. Noor Alam Khan, and Mr. Muhammad Awn Saqlain, along with representatives from the Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Law and Justice.
