Tragic Vehicle Accident on Srinagar-Jammu Highway Claims 10 Lives

Srinagar, A devastating accident occurred on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, resulting in the death of ten people after the passenger vehicle they were in plummeted into a deep gorge.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the tragedy struck around 1:30 AM when the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a 300-feet deep gorge near Battery Cheshma in the Ramban district. The passengers, identified as migrant workers traveling towards Srinagar, succumbed to their injuries in the catastrophic incident.

In the wake of the accident, amidst challenging weather conditions marked by heavy rainfall, state disaster management teams alongside police units initiated rescue operations to recover the bodies from the accident site.

Additionally, separate incidents in the region highlighted ongoing road safety concerns. In the Mazmoo area of Islamabad district, another vehicular accident claimed the life of a driver. Meanwhile, in the Soura area of Srinagar, authorities discovered the body of 34-year-old Tariq Ahmed Bhat, adding to the toll of unrelated fatalities in the region.
