Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to arrive in Pakistan for a two-day visit, commencing Wednesday, at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations through high-level discussions and potential agreements.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders. The visit is highlighted by the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which President Erdogan and Prime Minister Sharif will co-chair.
The session is expected to culminate in the signing of a Joint Declaration and several key agreements and Memorandums of Understanding. Both leaders are also scheduled to address a joint press stakeout.
In addition to participating in the council session, President Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. The visit also includes addressing the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Sharif, engaging with investors and business leaders from both nations.
The High Level Strategic Cooperation Council serves as the top decision-making forum to guide bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkiye. The council oversees multiple Joint Standing Committees across sectors such as trade, investment, energy, defense, and education.
This visit marks the seventh session of the council, with the previous session held in Islamabad in February 2020. The longstanding ties between Pakistan and Turkiye are expected to be further bolstered by this visit and the strategic discussions it entails.
