Two houses damaged in fire mishap, hailstorm wreaks havoc in IIOJK

Srinagar, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, at least two residential houses were damaged in a fire mishap in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A fire broke out from a residential house, which spread to a nearby house and damaged at least two residential houses in Kalantara Kreeri area of the district.

There was no injury of any type to anyone in the incident.

Meanwhile, hailstorm swept through dozens of villages, leaving a trail of devastation by damaging orchards and standing crops –the primary sources of livelihood for a major chunk of the local population included Khamoh, Rafiabad, Wagoora, Kreeri, Ladoora, Poutu Khah, Wagoora, Watergam, Pattan and Sopore, Trehgam, Gugloosa, Shumnag Awoora, Hayen, Laderwan, Kawari, Halmatpora, Payerpora, Sogam, Hyhama, Gazriyal, Warson, Reshigund, Dardsun, Kralpora, Rashanpora, Meelyaal, Dard Harie, Lone Harie, Wogbal, Bumhama, Nagri, Hatmulla, Mughalpora Mawar, Shahnagri, Drungsu, Khudi and other areas of Baramulla and Kupwara districts.

The storm unleashed a barrage of hailstones, causing significant harm to the agricultural crops, including wheat, rice, and vegetables. The fruit-laden trees, including apple, cherry and pear orchards, have also suffered extensive damage in the areas. The local population has in the meantime appealed to the authorities to assess the situation arising out of the situation and to compensate them to overcome the loss caused by the weather fury.
