Oslo, December 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Executive Director of Kashmiri Scandinavian Council (KSC), Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan, has said that India’s decision to build a wall along the Line of Control (LoC) is violation of the UN resolutions and Pakistan must raise the issue at diplomatic fronts including in the United Nations.
Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan in a statement issued in Oslo, Norway, reminded that the 10 meters high wall had no parallel in history and was obviously designed to divide the people of Kashmir on permanent basis. “Starting from the working boundary in Jammu-Sialkot sector, India will construct 197 km long wall in phase-I before extending it all over the LoC,” he added.
Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan said that the LoC was not an international border but just a ceasefire line drawn by the UN under provisional arrangements and hence India should not be allowed to change its status unilaterally.
He maintained that India had deliberately shown a cold shoulder to Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, who, for good neighbourly relations, had gone to the extent of proposing free trade and removal of visa restrictions between the two sides. One cannot question the wisdom behind such proposals but unilateral concessions may only help India consolidate its occupation of Kashmir, he warned.
The KSC Executive Director proposed that Pakistan should also activate the Contact Group of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Kashmir to raise the issue with India itself and other quarters concerned.
He also said that the KSC on its part was also taking up the issue with circles concerned in Norway and elsewhere to expose Indian intransigence and utter disregard to the resolutions passed by the UN Security Council to uphold the sanctity of LoC under all circumstances.
