Water and Power Development Authority agreed to raise the compensation for Bhasha Dam Labour Colony Project

Peshawar: On special efforts taken by the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Amir Haider Khan Hoti and the Commissioner Hazara Division Mr. Khalid Khan Umerzai the Wapda authorities have agreed to raise the compensation amount to Rs.260 million for compensation of the land being acquired for Bhasha Dam Labour Colony Project in Kohistan District.

Earlier the compensation was fixed at 90 million rupees only. The MNA from Kohistan Mr. Mahboob Jan, MPA Abdul Sattar Khan and representatives of the affected land owners have thanked the Provincial Government and lauded the endeavours of the Chief Minister and Commissioner Hazara Division to fulfil the demands of the affectees.

It is worth mentioning that construction of a colony is part of Bhasha Diamir Dam and owners of the land, required for the colony, had demanded of the Government to enhance the compensation amount. Therefore, keeping in view the demand the Chief Minister with assistance of the Commissioner Hazara approached the Wapda authorities and got an increase of Rs.170 million in compensation amount.

In this connection Mr. Umerzai has told that the authorities concerned have approved the enhanced amount and disbursement of compensation to the affected owners according to new enhanced rate would be started in first week of November 2011. Meanwhile elected representatives from Kohistan and the affectees of the proposed colony have assured their full cooperation in smooth completion of Bhasha Dam Project.
