World Bank Delegation Discusses Digital Transformation with Pakistan’s IT Minister

Islamabad, A high-level delegation from the World Bank, led by Mr. Martin Raiser, South Asia Regional Vice President, met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss initiatives related to Pakistan’s digital transformation. The dialogue focused on enhancing the digital economy and connectivity, including the deployment of 5G technology and the implementation of the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP).

According to Press Information Department, Minister Khawaja expressed Pakistan’s commitment to its digital transformation, outlining the Digital Pakistan Policy which aims to drive social and economic prosperity through technological advancements. The meeting underscored the government’s support for the private sector’s role in the digitalization process, with specific emphasis on the timely completion of the DEEP.

The World Bank delegation acknowledged the strides Pakistan has made in its digital journey and agreed to continue supporting the country’s digital initiatives. Key attendees included Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecom, Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Mahmood, and other senior members from the Ministry.
