3-day Int’l Gandhara Symposium continuing in Islamabad

Islamabad, July 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): The three-day International Gandhara Symposium is continuing in Islamabad. The title of the event is “Cultural Diplomacy: Reviving Gandhara Civilization and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan”. It is aimed at showcasing the treasure trove Gandhara Civilization and Buddhist heritage in Pakistan.

Addressing the symposium today Chairman Prime Minister’s Task Force on Gandhara Tourism Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said there is great potential of Buddhist tourism in Pakistan. He said promoting religious tourism will promote peace and harmony. He said Pakistan is working to facilitate the tourists and build the necessary infrastructure.

A number of Buddhist monks from Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, South Korea and Sri Lanka are attending the symposium. The monks will visit Taxila Museum and the archeological sites there.
