Balochistan Chief Minister Calls for Federal Support to Address Provincial Challenges

Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti highlighted the significant challenges facing the province, including governance, environmental change, and law and order issues, compounded by delays in federal fund disbursements for crucial development projects.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, speaking at a meeting on Tuesday with former President Asif Ali Zardari in attendance, Chief Minister Bugti stressed the critical need for timely release of funds for projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). He pointed out that such delays hinder the timely completion of vital infrastructure projects in remote areas, where basic facilities are already scarce due to inadequate communication infrastructure.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of restoring and continuing the Kuchi Canal Phase 1 and constructing Phase 2, alongside other projects like the Hub Dariji Dadu Road, as essential for the province’s development. He expressed a commitment to finding sustainable solutions for permanent peace in Balochistan and emphasized that negotiations are essential for future planning.

The meeting also included briefings on law and order from Additional Chief Secretary Interior Zahid Saleem and on development projects from Additional Chief Secretary Development and Planning Abdul Saboor Kakar, highlighting ongoing efforts to address the province’s multifaceted challenges.
