Commerce Minister Promises Support for Textile Industry in Lahore

Lahore, Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan has pledged support to the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) for boosting the textile industry through export diversification. During his visit to the APTMA Lahore office, Khan discussed a series of measures aimed at promoting export-oriented industries to stabilize the economy and ensure sustainable growth.

According to Press Information Department, the minister outlined the government’s commitment to resolving energy and tariff issues, enhancing regional connectivity, and diversifying exports. The event, held on Tuesday, was attended by APTMA dignitaries including Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Patron-in-Chief; Mr. Kamran Arshad, Chairman of APTMA North; and other senior officials. The minister also endorsed APTMA’s proposal for modern industrial zones equipped with plug-and-play facilities, which are expected to attract significant Chinese investment.

The discussions also covered proposals for reducing power tariffs for industrial consumers and increasing the cap on solar net-metering. The APTMA leadership emphasized the need for financial measures that would allow the textile industry to compete more effectively on a global scale, including the establishment of garment manufacturing zones with advanced infrastructure.
