European Firms Express Interest in Pakistan’s IT Sector, Plan Investments and Data Centers

Islamabad, The Special Investment Facilitation Council’s (SIFC) strategies are proving effective as European companies have shown a keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s IT sector. This development is marked by plans to establish data centers in Karachi and significant engagement with Pakistani startups.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, startups nurtured by the National Incubation Centers, which operate under the auspices of the SIFC, have been pivotal in attracting European IT companies to Pakistan. A notable European software company has already outlined plans to set up a data center in Karachi, signaling a growing confidence in Pakistan’s IT capabilities.

The US web portal Microsoft Network reported that the SIFC’s efforts and the robust network of the National Incubation Centers have restored foreign companies’ trust in Pakistan’s IT sector. The enhanced capacity, skilled workforce, and burgeoning opportunities are cited as reasons for these companies to progressively relocate their businesses to Pakistan.

Further bolstering this trend, Czech Republic’s IceWarp, in collaboration with Pakistan’s Hexalyze, plans to initiate a data center in Karachi. Jan Urbik, Global Chief Sales of IceWarp, emphasized Pakistan’s potential for digital transformation across government and private sectors, pledging to support the country’s IT mission with cost-effective solutions.

IceWarp’s investment is projected to reduce expenses by up to 60 percent for software and cybersecurity services across various industries, including financial institutions, SMEs, and startups.
