Srinagar, October 20, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Resistance Leadership has appealed to the people to hold marches, tomorrow, in their respective areas towards the houses of the members of so-called Legislative Assembly and stage sit-ins outside their residences for continuous three days.
In its protest calendar issued in Srinagar, last night, the leadership said that the MLAs were collaborators of India and were providing a civilian mask to a brutal Indian military occupation. The calendar also said that first Resistance Assembly would be held at Srinagar Assembly on 27th October. The leadership also invited the President, Prime Minister and MLAs of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to attend the assembly.
Meanwhile, the authorities dismissed around one dozen government employees from their services on participating in pro-freedom rallies. The dismissed employees include a deputy registrar of Kashmir University. The Employees Joint Action Committee President Abdul Qayoom Wani talking to media men in Srinagar threatened to launch mass agitation if the sacked employees were not reinstated.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik was brought to a private hospital for medical check-up when his health deteriorated in Srinagar Central Jail, today. The doctors at the hospital advised the police to shift Muhammad Yasin Malik to Soura Medical Complex for treatment, but he was brought back to Central Jail, Srinagar.
During its continuing crackdown on journalists, Indian police harassed and intimidated the editor of a Kashmir-based website, Vijdan Kawoosa on a fake charge of instigating youth to participate in protest rallies.
Indian authorities arrested over 9,000 people, mostly youth, in one of the biggest crackdowns in the history of Jammu and Kashmir during the past three months.
An Indian soldier has committed suicide at an army camp in Pir Panjal area of Mendhar in Poonch district. This has raised the number of such deaths among Indian forces and police personnel to 360 since 2007.
