National Conference Raises Alarm Over Power and Water Shortages in Kashmir

Srinagar, The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has voiced serious concerns about the escalating power and water shortages afflicting the region of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir amidst the ongoing summer heat. This situation is causing significant distress among the residents, prompting public demonstrations across the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq issued a statement in Srinagar highlighting the absence of effective governmental action to address the growing crisis. Sadiq detailed how the combination of high temperatures and inadequate utility services, including hours-long and unscheduled power outages along with severe water scarcities, has led to widespread public frustration.

The spokesperson emphasized that the frequent power cuts and water shortages have spurred protests across the Kashmir division, as residents demand better services. Sadiq called for urgent, robust, and transparent measures to fulfill the promises of reliable utilities, stressing the necessity to prevent the local population from enduring further hardship under the severe summer conditions.
