Pakistan Advocates for UN-Led Legally Binding Framework to Govern Global Cyberspace

New York: In a significant move at the United Nations, Pakistan has called for the establishment of a legally binding comprehensive framework to govern global cyberspace. This proposal was made by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, during an event in New York, where he highlighted the urgent need for regulation in the face of escalating cyber threats.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Jadoon detailed the various challenges that unregulated cyberspace poses, including cyber-attacks, cyber-terrorism, widespread disinformation campaigns, and assaults on critical infrastructure. In addressing these issues, Pakistan has not only recognized the growing threats but also established a national position on cyberspace security.

Emphasizing the critical need for international cooperation, Ambassador Jadoon advocated for a comprehensive framework under the auspices of the United Nations to ensure a secure and stable digital environment worldwide. This initiative seeks to bring global consensus on norms and actions that govern the use of information and communications technologies.
