Pakistan and Azerbaijan Pledge Mutual Support on Multilateral Stages

Islamabad: In a telephonic exchange on the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan committed to bolstering bilateral relations and supporting each other in various international forums. The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, and energy, and addressed shared challenges such as climate change.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the conversation between Prime Minister Sharif and President Aliyev was marked by mutual Eid greetings and well-wishes for the prosperity of their nations and the wider Muslim Ummah. They expressed satisfaction with the positive growth in their countries’ relations and agreed to continue efforts to deepen these ties in line with the existing political goodwill. Additionally, the leaders confirmed their countries’ support for each other at key multilateral organizations, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Economic Cooperation Organization.

President Aliyev also extended a personal invitation to Prime Minister Sharif to attend the upcoming COP29 climate summit in Baku, which Sharif accepted. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to standing by each other on crucial national issues and confirmed plans for President Aliyev’s forthcoming visit to Pakistan.
