Pakistan and China Bolster Ties with Focus on CPEC Phase 2 Projects

Islamabad, In a meeting held on May 7th, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, His Excellency Jiang Zaidong, discussed enhancing cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting emphasized strengthening collaboration across various sectors including energy, infrastructure, industry, food security, agriculture, and transportation. Minister Iqbal stressed the deepening friendship between China and Pakistan and highlighted the government’s commitment to accelerating CPEC projects. He mentioned the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to CPEC sites as a significant step towards new cooperative ventures in all sectors.

Key discussions included advancing technology transfers, especially in transportation and agriculture, and establishing industrial zones for manufacturing electric cars to capitalize on Pakistan’s competitive advantages. The Minister also touched on preparations for the South Asian Games 2025, proposing collaboration with China to enhance training programs for Pakistani athletes through Chinese expertise.

Ambassador Jiang lauded the efforts of the Pakistani government, particularly those of Minister Iqbal, in continuing to foster cooperation under CPEC. Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to the rapid and successful implementation of CPEC Phase 2, aiming to bolster economic growth and regional connectivity.
