Pakistan and Iran Seek to Boost Economic and Energy Ties, NA Speaker Advocates

Islamabad, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underscored the significance of strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations through enhanced economic, trade, and energy cooperation, during a meeting with an Iranian Parliamentary Delegation in Islamabad.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Speaker, alongside Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mr. Mahdi Safari and Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, discussed the potential for deepening bilateral ties rooted in shared heritage and strategic interests. Sadiq emphasized the importance of energizing the private sectors and expanding trade through initiatives like border markets and the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project. He advocated for closer parliamentary relationships through the revival of the Parliamentary Friendship Group and mutual legislative exchanges.

The discussions highlighted key areas such as the Gwadar-Chabahar port collaboration and resolution of energy project disputes, aiming to foster a productive partnership that leverages both nations’ economic and strategic capacities.
