Pakistan and Italy Strengthen Efforts Against Human Trafficking

Islamabad, In a key meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E Mirelena Armellini, both nations agreed to enhance cooperation to combat human trafficking and ensure the safe, legal migration of workers.

According to Press Information Department, discussions focused on bilateral relations and mutual concerns, with Interior Minister Naqvi reiterating Pakistan’s zero-tolerance policy towards human trafficking. He highlighted that offenders would face stringent punishments, including imprisonment and financial penalties. The meeting also saw agreements to prevent illegal Pakistani entries into Italy and to promote legal employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers, potentially increasing remittances to Pakistan. An agreement is set to be signed to solidify this cooperation, with directions to finalize it promptly.

The Italian Ambassador expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts and assured full cooperation. Additionally, the possibility of declaring Milan and Islamabad as sister cities was discussed, underscoring a deepening of diplomatic and cultural ties.
