Pakistan and Japan Strengthen Ties with New Human Resource Development Scholarships

Islamabad, In a significant boost to educational cooperation, the Government of Pakistan and Japan have signed a Grant Agreement to extend the Human Resource Development Scholarship Program (JDS) 2024. The agreement, involving a grant of JPY 326 million (approximately US$ 2.1 million), aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of young Pakistani civil servants through advanced education in Japan.

According to Press Information Department, the ceremony, held at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, saw Dr. Kazim Niaz and H.E. Mr. Wada Mitsuhiro, the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, formalize the continuation of this impactful program. This year’s grant will sponsor seventeen Master’s degrees and one PhD/Doctorate, marking the seventh installment of a series that began in 2018 and has since benefited over a hundred young professionals.

The JDS scholarships are part of a broader effort by Japan to support Pakistan’s socio-economic development through capacity building and education. The program not only strengthens the administrative capabilities of Pakistan’s civil service but also reinforces the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
